March 22, 2021, Sipi Asset Recovery’s Elk Grove Village processing facility recently completed a yearly audit of our R2 certification. R2 is related to responsible recycling. The focus of the audit is to certify that the handling of electronics is being carried out as properly required, from the moment an asset comes under control by the processing organization, through to final disposition.
“This was the first on-site audit we have had in over a year, virtual audits have become more common in the last year but having an auditor on-site allows for a much more in-depth audit,” noted David Garret, VP Regulatory Affairs, Sipi Asset Recovery.
As always, there are areas we can improve on and we will work on those in the effort for continuous improvement.
The auditor did note and was impressed by the cleanliness and order in the warehouse. Sipi also received impressive comments regarding our COVID protocols and tracking of teardown material.
“I can lead an audit, but the proof of saying what we do and then showing we do it, cannot be achieved without the entire company,” said David.
2020 was also a year of transitions. Sipi Asset Recovery navigated the successful upgrade from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001 as well as transitioning to v4.0 of e-Stewards.
